If you like good physical labor, this a great job. Setting up tables and racks and getting the initial layout organized with baskets and signs. Sunday is also the day that our Large Volume Consignors drop off, so we'll be checking in about a dozen consignors as well. Set up is not a good shift for pregnant ladies, those with bad backs, or health issues.
If you have an eye for detail, and love to see all the good "stuff" that is coming in for the sale, this is the job for you. Checking clothes for stains and holes and toys for batteries and completeness.
This is just what it sounds like. You'll be moving all of the items that have been accepted into the sale and putting them where they belong. There are clothing runners and "stuff" runners. You'll be assigned to either clothing or "stuff". Only clothing runners are allowed to put clothes on the racks to insure that there is consistency within the sizes.
If you are pregnant, nursing or need to sit for long periods of time, we have a position for you. Registration involves getting our consignors checked in, passes issued and give general instructions for what to do next.
If you like to organize and get everything ready for the sale, this is the shift for you. We will go through and organize everything and make sure that all of the areas are ready and organized for the sale. Ability to take an area and just "get it organized" is a valuable skill for these volunteers.
Please be aware that meals can not be used as a 4-hour shift and do not count towards increased splits.
If you would like to make a meal to help feed our hard working volunteers, you can sign up for the following meals. Meals are for 10 people.
Monday Noon Chili, Crackers, Cheese, Disposable Bowls and Spoons
Monday 6PM Spaghetti, Tossed Salad, Italian Dressing, Bread/Butter
Tuesday Noon Build your own Taco's. Tray of Taco Meat, 20 Soft Taco Shells, Shredded Cheese, Shredded Lettuce, Dessert
Tuesday 6PM Pizza, 2 large (1 Cheese, 1 Pepperoni)
Friday Noon Build Your Own Sandwiches. Turkey Lunch Meat, Hoagie Rolls, Mayo, Lettuce, Sliced Tomato, Swiss Cheese
All sale workers may be required to move tables and relocate merchandise during the sale.
Floor Security If you are assigned to work floor security, your job will to be to watch what goes on on the sales floor during the sale. Picking up items that have been dropped, watching for people hogging racks or blocking aisles, keeping a general "eye out" on what is going on and reporting back on anyone that needs "attention". You may not pull tags under any circumstances.
Tag Pullers Only tag pullers may remove tags. You must be a seasoned volunteer with our sale to be a tag puller.
The Friday night sort is required for all volunteers who want to increase their split beyond 75%. The sort begins at 6PM and goes until it is done. On any given sale, it could be as early as 10:30PM or as late as midnight. We stop for dinner around 8:30PM. If you work the sort you can take your items home when we are done. No children are allowed at the sort. You must work the full sort in order to receive your increased benefit.
We can accommodate one person who needs to sit or is on limited duty from 6PM-10PM. Duties will include preparing all equipment for storage (such as collecting pens, fliers, cleaning supplies etc)
We'll be assisting our consignors and help them find their items for pick up. Once that is complete, we will take all the donations and help the donation people load their trucks. All equipment will need to be taken into the store room. We clean the kitchen and sweep and mop the gym floor.
We can accommodate one person who needs to sit or is on limited duty from 8:30am-12:30PM.
